1978 - Magnavox Odyssey 2
The Odyssey 2 was released by Magnavox in 1978. It retailed for $200 and was initially a competitor to the Atari VCS and managed to sell over 1 million units in North America.

There were about 50 game cartridges released for the system, many of which featured more than one game. Since the system had an integrated keyboard, many titles were more "educational" than their Atari VCS counterparts, which was attractive to parents. Some games also had an overlay for the keyboard that allowed a depth of play unmatched on the Atari VCS, such as "Quest for the Ring"
