Ah, ya. I read that interview with Jim Drew one day while I was at work. Been quite busy here recently with some database work; but, it'll die down next week.

Very interested to see the original source code of rapidlok, and to hear from the author about it. I always wondered who had devised this protection.

I'll try to hit up my father this weekend and see where he's got the source code squirreled away.

Either way, he can give a pretty thorough explanation of how it works off the top of his head. I'll take some audio notes.

What the heck, Randall, you never mentioned to me that you posted here and what a coincidence that you would end up posting here also! lol...

'rapidlok - fact or fiction?'

FACT or FICTION:

Two brothers appear on a website, claiming they were unaware of each others' posts (despite them being in the same thread) concerning the legendary Rapidlok copy protection method.

They also claim to be the sons of Rapidlok's developer.

Are these two individuals really the sons of Rapidlok's developer or two jesters stringing everyone along with hopes of information on Rapidlok?

Why the secrecy and dad's reluctance to offer information on an obsolete copy-protection scheme that serves no purpose other than archival initiatives and nostalgia?

Do you find it odd that they happened upon the same website unbeknownst to each other, and joined the same conversation about their supposed father, both offering to help in the quest, yet have offered nothing but unfulfilled promises for over eight months?

Is it a true that these two gentlemen are who they claim to be, or is this some scheme concocted by two clowns who get a cheap thrill offering false hope to the Commodore preservation community?

Fact or fiction - cast your votes.

My vote is fiction. Too many coinsidences that Kevin points out.

I don't really care. If it's a troll, it's a pretty silly one.

You never put a lot of stock in things offered over the Internet until someone puts up something real.

Seems you cared until about 31 days ago. You were still asking them questions. :-)
